MARINE CORPS BAND NEW ORLEANS, THE SAENGER THEATRE AND CHEVRON COLLECT DONATIONS FOR TOYS FOR TOTS AT “SANTA MEETS SOUSA” CONCERT

Attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toy donations to Saturday, Dec. 9 performance

NEW ORLEANS – (Nov. 15, 2017) –The Marine Corps Band New Orleans, along with Chevron and the Saenger Theatre would like to extend an invitation to all kids “1 to 92” to the annual “Santa Meets Sousa” Holiday Concert on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m., at the Saenger Theatre.

The holiday performance is open to the public; however, the donation of a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots is appreciated. While admission is free, all seating is reserved and requires an event ticket, which will be available at the Saenger Theatre box office (1111 Canal Street, New Orleans) or by calling (504) 287-0351 beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 through the show.

Toy donations will be distributed by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program during the holidays to greater New Orleans children in need. Toys, including stuffed toys, must be new and in original packaging.

“We are honored to partner once again with the Marines and Chevron for such an amazing cause,” said David Skinner, general manager for the Saenger Theatre. “We invite all families to enjoy an evening of holiday music benefitting the children of our community and we look forward to continuing this tradition for many years.”

The Marine Corps Band New Orleans entertains audiences at more than 200 performances each year. Led by Chief Warrant Officer 2 DeMarius D. Jackson, the band is comprised of 51 fully-trained active duty Marines that truly embody the phrase ‘Marine Musician.’ This is the 12th year the Marine Corps Band New Orleans has performed the Holiday Concert production tour benefitting Toys for Tots. Marine Corps Band New Orleans

Marine Corps Band New Orleans was established October 1, 1978. Under the operational control of the Commanding General, Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North, the unit is comprised of active duty Marines stationed aboard the Marine Corps Support Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. The band supports all units of the Fourth Marine Logistics Group, Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Fourth Marine Division, and Force Headquarters Group. Additionally, these Marines are often called upon to perform in support of Marine Corps Recruiting Command initiatives and community relations programs. Saenger Theatre

Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings.
