New Zealand is the most incredible destination I have had the chance to visit! I am lucky to have family in Auckland and got to spend ‘upside down Christmas’ with them in 2018. The topography change and diverse geography ranges from volcanos to glaciers in such narrow island country felt otherworldly at times and leaves you awestruck. It was disorienting when looking at the map flying in and feel so far away from the rest of the world. If you ever visit, make sure to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, I promise it is worth the trek!
Where did you grow up, and what was it like?
I am from Atlanta and grew up going to the Lake Blue Ridge in the mountains on the weekend where I learned to water ski at a young age. Oh and you haven’t tried a peach until you’ve tried a Georgia peach!
What are you most proud of?
At 20, I packed two suitcases and moved to the Netherlands all by myself, not knowing Dutch or a single person. After three years, I had built an amazing professional and personal community, learned Dutch, and felt so at home. I learned a lot about my strength, resilience and spirit of adventure through that experience.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
Growing up, I was a competitive figure skater and member of the Atlanta Figure Skating club. I loved performing in the Ice Show every spring! Now, I rollerblade in Audubon Park. It is as close as I can get to the real thing!
