This position at The Ehrhardt Group (TEG) focuses primarily on the servicing of client accounts within the agency. The Assistant Account Executive position is responsible for providing support for multiple account teams including pitching and securing media opportunities, client and industry research, meeting coordination and logistics, and other duties in the daily servicing of client accounts, with greater independence and proficiency than Account Administrators.

QUALITIES OF A TEG ASSISTANT ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (AAE):

AAEs at TEG must be able to: 

  • Understand the daily operations of a PR agency and the value we provide to clients 
  • Interact professionally with clients and agency leadership 
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and other staff members 
  • Possess exceptional organizational, time management and research skills 
  • Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and dedication to quality 
  • Have a basic understanding of the economic and cultural framework of New Orleans, the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Gulf South 
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with local media, agency vendors and partners 
  • Possess a strong understanding of social media and digital communications, and how these strategies can benefit TEG’s clients 
  • Keep abreast of emerging strategies and tactics in the industry as well as local approaches in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast 
  • Desire to learn and grow in their professional career and as a leader 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Play an active and valuable role in multiple client accounts 
  • Participate in client meetings and prepare first drafts of meeting notes 
  • Stay up-to-date on local news, events and issues that could affect TEG’s clients 
  • Research assigned issues, clients, client competitors, news stories, media representatives and outlets 
  • Meet internal and external deadlines 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with local, regional, national and trade media 
  • Secure positive media coverage on behalf of clients including pitching, coordinating interviews and distributing visuals and other content 
  • Prepare and disseminate media materials including advisories, alerts, press releases, photos and cutlines, etc. 
  • Conceptualize and draft creative media angles for various client initiatives 
  • Maintain media lists with up-to-date information 
  • Craft social media content calendars and interact with digital audiences on behalf of TEG clients 
  • Provide special event services including (but not limited to) invitation list development, RSVP management, logistics coordination, and on-site set-up and breakdown 
  • Regularly monitor media (traditional and emerging) for industry trends and share with appropriate TEG account teams 
  • Manage vendors in production design, timelines and estimates for photography, advertising and collateral materials 
  • Track expenses and hours of programs/projects 
  • Collaborate with account team to develop concepts, strategies and tactics for PR plans and campaigns 
  • Participate in special projects and activities, as assigned 
  • Attend professional development, networking and client events after hours, as assigned

PREREQUISITES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business or related discipline 
  • Minimum of 1 year of PR experience, agency environment preferred
  • Able and willing to drive to assignments in and out of town
