Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I am the youngest child of four and probably the most out of the box one. Although I love Chicago, at a very young age, I wanted to see what life was like outside of the Windy City. I manage to leave Chicago whenever the opportunity presented itself. I backpacked across Europe when I was 16, went to Mississippi for undergrad and graduate school even though I had no family or friends there and now I am living in New Orleans. Even though I am not there anymore, it will forever be home for me.

What was college like for you?

College was amazing! Although I spent a lot of my time studying or doing homework, I was a member of MADDRAMA Performance Troupe which is a theater club on Jackson State University’s campus that travels throughout the south to perform plays, skits, poetry and dance to heighten the awareness of theater as a cultural art form in the community. Most of my fondest memories revolve around this club and its members. I even met my husband through MADDRAMA, and the rest is history.

What are some fun facts about you that people may not know?

I am a horror movie fanatic. I love them! I can watch any scary movie that was made from early 1900s to now. I can give you the history of horror in films as well as explain how it has changed throughout the decades. My love for the genre runs so deep that I keep a running list of top scary movies to see, and I give them my own rating.

What do you do for fun outside the office?

I love spending time with my husband, son and in laws. My husband has a big family so there is always something to do or someone to keep you company.
