The Galatoire Foundation Announces the Return of its Annual Mardi Gras Table Auction
Auction proceeds to benefit local nonprofits
(NEW ORLEANS) – Jan. 11, 2022 –Each year, the Galatoire Foundation’s Christmas and Mardi Gras table auctions raise funds to aid local nonprofits in achieving their goals for public good. This year’s recipients, who will receive 100 percent of the funds, are Covenant House New Orleans, Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré and the Galatoire Foundation. The Mardi Gras table auction is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 7, 2022.
During the lively auction, attendees get the rare opportunity to bid on a coveted reservation in the historic first floor main dining room at Galatoire’s for the Friday before Mardi Gras, one of the restaurant’s busiest days of the year. Historically, reservations are not permitted in the main dining room so securing a table is a much sought-after experience.
“Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold our Mardi Gras auction last year. We are thrilled to be able once again put on this event as the city prepares for the return of parades this carnival season,” said Melvin Rodrigue, Galatoire Foundation president. “During a global pandemic and post-Hurricane Ida recovery, we were able to raise more than $117,000 for our wonderful non-profit partners at the Christmas table auction in November. This is truly a testament to the generosity of our beloved Galatoire’s supporters and we hope to raise even more at our Mardi Gras auction in a few weeks.”
Created in 2010, the Galatoire Foundation establishes a framework for the restaurant’s numerous community activities and donations. The Christmas and Mardi Gras table auctions have raised more than $2.5 million since inception in 2006, benefitting more than two dozen New Orleans-area charitable organizations.
Tickets for the Mardi Gras auction are available here. Cocktails start at 5:30 p.m., with the auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. Auction paddles are $50 and admit two guests. Individual spectator tickets are $25. All tickets include sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres.
