New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Named 2021 National Top Workplace

Following a year of unprecedented challenges, NOENMCC maintains its culture and strengthens employee morale.

New Orleans, LA. – (Jan. 28, 2021) – The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC) has been named one of the Top Workplaces in the nation, setting the standard of excellence for event venues across the country. The only Convention Center to receive the award, the honor was announced Jan. 27 during a virtual event hosted by the nation’s most credible employer recognition program, Energage. The award is granted to companies based exclusively on feedback provided by employees.

“This is an extraordinarily high honor that we take great pride in and something we hear about regularly from our clients.  Given that this distinction comes directly from our staff, whom we consider internal customers, it is particularly rewarding.  Cultivating a positive work environment and uplifting culture is something we are dedicated to,” said Michael J. Sawaya, Convention Center President. “Our success as a multifaceted event venue depends on a dedicated and accomplished staff which is reflected in being named a Top Workplace. I am immensely grateful that we have such an amazing team that any other company in the country would be proud to call their own,” Sawaya added.

Despite challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, with strategic financial planning, NOENMCC was able to keep all staff fully employed, using the opportunity to prepare the facility for a post-pandemic re-opening. During the downtime, the Center advanced several critical improvements, such as the beautification of Convention Center Boulevard and many internal enhancements – all part of a $557 million, 5-year capital improvement plan that is currently underway.

The Convention Center received the local Top Workplaces award several times in previous years and was recently selected as one of the city’s “Best Places to Work” by New Orleans CityBusiness, a weekly business newspaper.

NOENMCC has worked with state and local officials to ensure all health and safety standards are in place when the facility welcomes visitors through its doors once again -as not only a top meeting destination, but a National Top Workplace USA.
